Letter from a parent — Gratitude for Professional Training of PLA

Dear Dr Nam,

In the wink of an eye, Ching Ching has turned four years and three months old. I can recall that I really felt down in the dumps, about two years ago when she was diagnosed with mild forms of autism and speech delay by a Hong Kong public hospital. I did not know what to do, because I did not have the faintest idea about what the Government would do as support and follow-up the situation of Ching Ching. All I knew was that children need suitable training within the critical period up to the age of six.

How blessed am I! A friend introduced me to you, Dr Jane Nam, educational psychologist of the Positive Life Association Ltd. (PLA). You conducted an “Integrated Assessment” to diagnose the situation of Ching Ching with a positive attitude. You also designed for her an intensive training course. With regard to speech learning, Ching Ching was already able to emit the sound “ah, ah” just after three lessons. She tried hard at pronunciation and eventually uttered “mama”. At that moment, I was moved beyond words. At long last, Ching Ching could speak!

Now just over four years old, Ching Ching is able to express herself in both Chinese and English, and can make sentences like other children of her age, in some cases even excelling them.

Dr Nam, thank you so much for your professional instruction. Most grateful that my daughter could have your training within the critical stage of her growth.

With compliments from Ching Ching’s mother
