My child talks again

家長心聲Thanks to Dr. Jane Nam and teachers for helping my son Yang Yang overcome his psychological obstacles and enabling him to talk again!

Before he was two, Yang Yang could sing and speak in multiple languages. However, when he was two and a half years old, he started to be reluctant to speak. In the end, he would not utter a word. Later, he was even assessed as having an "autism" tendency. I, therefore, arranged for my child to receive training at various private training institutions and speech therapy centres. However, days passed and Yang Yang's progress of learning remained unsatisfactory. Every time we went to the training institution, Yang Yang refused to enter. Even if he eventually entered it, his crying would often have taken up half of the training time!

One day, while walking tiredly and despairingly along King's Road in North Point, I suddenly saw a banner of the "Positive Life Association" hanging on the railing. The banner read: “Children and youth assessment and pre-school Growth Classroom”!. I immediately called the Association to register for training for Yang Yang.

With the course in the "Growth Classroom" of the Positive Life Association entering its second week, Yang Yang suddenly called me "Mom" at home. At first, I thought he was just babbling, so I asked him to say "Mom" once more. He not only understood, but he also responded by calling me "Mom" many times. At that instant, I was both surprised and moved... My feeling of fatigue entirely disappeared at once, my eyes welled, and a long-lost smile bloomed across my face!

At long last, my child could speak properly again! Later, following Dr. Jane Nam's suggestion, I began by providing Yang Yang every day with wholesome food for nutrition and physical strength, coupled with body massage. Yang Yang has since become healthier and has grown a lot, which really makes me overjoyed! After several months studying in the "Growth Classroom", Yang Yang gradually stopped his behaviours of frequent playing with fingers, fleeting eye contact with others, covering up ears, not sleeping at night, and sudden crying and panicking.

Yang Yang has already resumed his cheerful and lively character. He even knows how to tease his mother. Every day, Yang Yang would take the initiative to kiss his mother. It moves me so much to hear him say the simple words "thank you Mom"! It was indeed fortunate of us to have the Positive Life Association giving Yang Yang proper help and training and let him regain his happy and healthy life!

We are now ready to send Yang Yang back to a mainstream international school to continue his studies. Thanks to Dr. Jane Nam and teachers of the Positive Life Association for their help and teaching! We will certainly continue to strive to let Yang Yang have a positive life and healthy growth.

Most grateful!

Greetings from Yang Yang's mother
