Effectiveness of PLA Integrated Assessment and Training

When our son was around two, he was diagnosed as being “slow in development” and with “suspected autism spectrum disorder”. Hence, he had to receive assessment and training by professionals. He was found to be improving steadily.

While demonstrating immense improvement in his learning ability, we also discovered some exceptional learning qualities in him. For example, before he was three, he could read out simple English sentences on his own. He also could count from number 1 to 100 in both Chinese and English. In order to understand his special abilities, we consulted some professionals. Their explanation was that our son had a particularly strong memory.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, classes in his kindergarten were suspended, so as his training course. However, he kept learning on his own initiative at home and made continuous progress. We were astonished, at the same time considered it necessary to prudently review his training arrangements.

Luckily, we came to know Dr. Jane Nam, educational psychologist of the Positive Life Association Ltd. (PLA). After conducting the “Integrated Assessment” on our son, Dr. Nam cordially told us, “Your son is not autistic, instead a gifted child. He in fact possesses what are termed ‘visual-spatial intelligence’ and ‘linguistic intelligence’ in the Theory of Multiple Intelligences.”

Dr. Nam further designed our son an integrated training curriculum, covering food and nutrition, verbal expression, executive functions, concentration, reaction ability, mathematical training, coordination of eye muscles and comprehensive activity teaching. Dr. Nam began by enhancing our son’s organizational skill and reaction ability.

In less than three months, our son was able to recite short poems. Starting with just sketching crude and rough lines, he can now draw human faces with expressions. He has also shown much improvement in his coordination of eye muscles. The PLA training for our son is truly an amazing experience. Compared with the previous conventional training that our son had received, the curriculum tailor-made by Dr. Nam has lifted him up to an entirely new level. Our son enjoys each and every of the training session at the PLA Centre and is reluctant to leave afterwards.

We are indeed grateful to Dr. Nam for applying her rich experience in educational psychology and her all-round knowledge to help our son so enthusiastically, training him in the right direction and giving him immense support as he grows.

We know that the PLA is working hard in its plan to build a high-tech kindergarten. We fervently hope that this kindergarten project of PLA can be completed soon, for the benefit of more children having learning needs, providing them with education that suits their individual needs and capabilities, thus enhancing their overall learning abilities and putting them on a sound footing in their study, so that eventually they will all have a life that shines and contributes to our society.
